County council elections take place every four years with the next ones due to take place in 2013.

Why vote?

When you are a registered voter you can have your say on who represents you on local matters such as:

  • your child's education

  • your roads, pavements and rights of way

  • health and social care for your relatives

  • your community

  • local services including libraries and museums

  • protecting your consumer rights through Trading Standards

When is the next election?

County council elections take place every four years and the next one is due to take place in 2013.

There may be by-elections, a general elections, European election and elections for district, borough or city councils in-between.
